
Nan McNamara is an actor/director/writer. Her film and television roles include Good People, 9-1-1: Lonestar, Major Crimes, Dear White People, Hawaii Five-0, Criminal Minds, Rosewood, Switched at Birth, Good Grief, Praying the Hours and Not That Funny (with Tony Hale).
For her work on Los Angeles stages, Nan has received the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, L.A. Weekly Award, multiple Stage Raw Awards and the Robby Award. She has also directed a number of theatre productions in Los Angeles including the World Premiere of Lee Blessing’s A Body of Water (Ovation Recommended) for which she was nominated for the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award.
In the world of video games, Nan is the voice of Anya in the Gears of War franchise, as well as Dr. Betty Ross in the animated films Ultimate Avengers: The Movie and Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther. Other video games include Star Wars: The Old Republic, Ghosthunter, Tony Hawk’s Project 8, Yakuza and many others. Nan recently joined the cast of the long running radio drama, Adventures in Odyssey.
As a voiceover artist, she has recorded hundreds of radio and TV commercials. She is co-host (with Steve Cubine) of the podcast, From Beneath the Hollywood Sign about Classic Cinema and the Golden Age of Hollywood with over 100 episodes. She is also an award-winning
audiobook narrator (multiple Earphone Awards, “Best Audiobook of 2016”, Best Audiobook of 2022) having recorded nearly 400 audiobooks.
With her writing partner, Ana Auther, she formed Anagram Film Creations in 2016, a production company focusing on female-driven stories. Their screenplay, Brand New Ballgame won the La Femme Independent Jury Award for Best Un-produced Screenplay.
She hails from the great State of Minnesota and graduated Cum Laude from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Nan is married to voiceover artist and podcaster Lindsay Schnebly.
