A New 2D Con Website
Over the past year we’ve noticed that the 2D Con website has started to slow down and was leading to a poor experience. After some extensive research we found a some glaring issues in our usability and some poor optimization with our webhost.
2D Con has a few goals that are very important to us. Affordability, inclusivity, and accessibility. We believe those three goals are related and are often overlooked. Another very important thing to us is first impressions, and that starts with the website.
So, we rebuilt the website entirely from scratch with a focus on speed and ease of use. The new site loads 70% faster and meets all modern web standards for accessibility. More information has been added and the structure has been overhauled to make what you’re looking for easier to find.
While we migrated most data from the old site, we did not take over user accounts or historical data. We recommend that you create an account when purchasing your ticket. By creating an account you’ll be able to view all of your order history.
Registration Improvements
Pre-registering for 2D Con has many benefits and is extremely helpful for our staff.
- Save time We’ll have all of your information before you get to the con. That means shorter lines and quicker check-in.
- Save money Pre-registration prices are time based. The earlier you register the more you save. As of this post You can save $15 on a standard ticket type.
- Help us plan We run on a small budget and are planning is based on estimated attendance. Pre-registering gives us a better idea on how many attendees to expect and helps us determine budget allocation. That means that the more people who pre-register the more we can allocate for things like guests and entertainment.
Because of how important pre-registering is, we’ve completely updated our registration system to make the process much simpler. We’re no longer requiring any extra information such as phone number, shirt size or badge name. To make things even easier we’ve added a few new payment methods; You can now pay with your Debit/Credit Card, PayPal or Venmo.
The average time it takes to pre-register has been reduced to an average of 60 seconds.
Registration lines at events can be painful at times, so we’re also making numerous improvements to our check in process. One improvement we are making this year is changing how VIP attendees will pick up their physical swag. Each VIP will now receive a ticket that they will bring to the 2D Con merch booth. We will also no longer be printing anything on site.
We believe this will significantly cut down on the time it takes to pick up your badge, giving you more time to enjoy the convention.
